Panic in South Delhi after abandoned mortar found

New Delhi : It was a terrified morning in South Delhi when an abandoned mortar shell was found in a park at Vasant Kunj. The National Security Guard (NSG) was called to defuse the mortar. The area was cordon off by the police after it was found. 

The locals spotted the shell lying in the park of Kishan Garh locality and informed the police.

According to police, a PCR call received around 8.30 AM regarding the finding of the mortar shell in the park Machli Wala, Samadhi Van village, Kishan Garh, in Vasant Kunj(N). The entire area has been cordoned off and evacuated as a precautionary measure. 

The NSG has been requested to send a team for carrying out necessary drill to diffuse the shell. The old and corroded shell has been covered with a bomb blanket to avert any accidental blast.
