Punjab : The seat sharing has been revealed for the upcoming Punjab elections; BJP will be contesting on the 67 seats, Capt. Amarinder Singh's party will be fighting the elections on 35 seats and third alliance, Shromani Akali Dal will be contesting on the 15 seats.

The seat-sharing pact has been announced in a press conference on Monday in which Captain Amarinder Singh, BJP chief JP Nadda and Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) chief Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa were present.

Calling Punjab as a "leader" JP Nadda said, "Today Punjab needs special attention, it needs a double engine government and a better coordination between the centre and the state."

"We have given a good set of candidates with a clear focus on winnability while ensuring due representation across regions and various sections of the society," Captain Singh, who will contest from his Patiala Urban seat, said at a news conference.

26 out of 37 allotted seats are from the Malwa region where Captain Amarinder Singh is believed to have a strong hold.

The region had helped Captain Singh swing the 2007 election for the Congress with his agricultural reforms.

On Saturday, Amarinder Singh had announced that he will be contesting elections from his home constituency of Patiala Urban.
