Ram statue in Ayodhya: Key specifications by UP government

Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday released key specifications of the Ram statue that has been approved by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The authorities have planned to build the Ram statue on the banks of Saryu River. It is expected to be 221-meter in height, even more than the recently unveiled 'Statue of Unity' in Gujarat.

The figure of lord Rama will be will measure 151 metres, the pedestal 50 metres, and the "chattra" over his head 20 metres.

Describing more about the Ram statue, the UP government released a press release, saying that it will be made of Bronze metal. A representational photograph of the statue was also shared to the media.



The government, however, did not reveal its cost of production and also the source of funds for the statue.

At 182 metres, the Statue of Unity -- made in the image of freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel -- is currently the world's tallest statue. It was built at a cost of Rs 2,989 crore on a river island facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
