Sabarimala temple ban on woman: SC verdict today on scrapping the rule

New Delhi : Sabarimala temple verdict: Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on Friday over scrapping ban on women entrance into the religious building.

Currently, women of menstrual age are not allowed to enter the temple as its presiding deity, Lord Ayyappa, is considered to be a celibate.

A five-judge bench headed by justice Dipak Misra had reserved their judgement over a bunch of petition challenging the ban on entrance of women on August 1.

The constitution bench, which also has Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra, had said that the constitutional scheme prohibiting exclusion has "some value" in a "vibrant democracy".

The Kerala  government, on the other hand, had been changing their stand on the matter and lately they had agreed that women entry should not be banned.
