New Delhi : On Wednesday, Sharad Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), continued his regular routine of meeting individuals, including party functionaries, despite his recent announcement to step down from his position as the party's chief.

In a surprising turn of events, 82-year-old Sharad Pawar made a shocking announcement on Tuesday. He declared his decision to step down as the chief of the NCP, a party he founded and led since 1999. However, it's important to note that Pawar clarified he is not retiring from public life. This unexpected announcement, made during an event, left NCP leaders and workers in a state of shock. Many were visibly emotional, with tears and pleas urging the influential Maratha leader to reconsider his decision.

Following the announcement, Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar provided an update on Tuesday, stating that his uncle would require two to three days to contemplate his decision.

On Wednesday, an NCP functionary confirmed that Sharad Pawar was maintaining his usual routine of meeting people, including party workers, at the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan from 10 am to 1 pm.

It is worth noting that Sharad Pawar's unexpected announcement on Tuesday occurred less than two weeks after his daughter, NCP's Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, hinted at two political "blasts" that would take place within 15 days, one in Delhi and another in Maharashtra.
