Situation in Delhi improves amid heavy deployment of security forces

New Delhi : The situation in areas hit by violence during a protest against the citizenship bill is now improving under the heavy deployment of security forces, especially in Old Delhi and Seemapuri area.

On Friday, stone pelting and incidents of violence were reported from Daryaganj in old Delhi and Seemapuri areas.

A Times of India report quoted Manish Seth, secretary of Daryaganj Traders' Association, claimed that all shops opened on Saturday morning and there was no unrest in the market area.

The area near Jama Masjid also remained calm on Saturday, one day after huge protesters had gathered to raise their voices against the citizenship bill.

A senior police officer from Shahdra also said that the situation remained under control in the area.

"Delhi Police officials have dominated the area and are also conducting flag marches since Friday to ensure that no violence incident is reported," he said.

It all started with violence in Jamia Millia Islamia University that triggered and pulled protesters on streets on several parts of India.
