UP, Bihar floods: Death toll reaches 150, several areas waterlogged

New Delhi : The death toll in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has gone up to 150 with several areas waterlogged to inaccessible conditions.

The highest number of deaths of 111 has been reported from Uttar Pradesh, while others are in Bihar.

The weather department has forecasted more rain in the region, especially in Patna, saying that there will be a long delay in monsoon.

India recorded its highest rainfall this Monsoon since 1994, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) classified it to be 'above normal' as the season officially ended on Monday.

In Patna, the normal life is running out of gear with schools being shut, houses, shops, hospitals being submerged in water.

The Bihar disaster management has said that they have urged the state government to air drop the food supplies to the people stranded in the region.

In a year the rest of India witnessed "above-normal monsoon", the city recorded the lowest rainfall since 2014 with a deficiency of 38 per cent, the IMD said.

Since Thursday, 104 people have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh.
