Centre rejects Delhi government's proposal to hike MLAs salary

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia

New Delhi : Centre on Friday rejected Delhi Government's proposal to hike salary of MLAs by four times.

As per proposal, Arvind Kejriwal government proposed a 400 percent hike in basic salary besides hefty increase in perks and allowance. The bill claimed that it should be increased from current Rs 12,000 to Rs 50,000.

On refusal, Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia slammed Centre and asked for an explanation behind such a decision.

He said, "We want MLAs to have a respected lifestyle for which Rs 50,000 is a genuine demand, we want Modi government to explain reasons behind refusal"

Sisodia added, "BJP MLAs come on scooters and within five years make big kothis and lavish cars. What’s the formula?"
