Republic Day Parade: Congress upset with Rahul Gandhi's seat on sixth row

New Delhi : Congress has reacted angrily over allocation of Rahul Gandhi's seat in the sixth row during Republic Day parade. They have alleged that BJP has ignored tradition and has indulged into cheap politics.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala termed the situation as public display of 'cheap politics' by BJP when Rahul Gandhi was not allotted front row seat during R-Day parade.

BJP national spokesman Anil Baluni countered the Congress in a statement. “The controversy raised by Congress about the seating arrangements for Rahul Gandhi during 2018 Republic Day function is baseless and condemnable,” he said. “BJP did not make an issue of the seating arrangements made for BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh during UPA regime in 2013 and 2014. Both did not even get a place in the VIP enclosure and were made to sit with bureaucrats,” Baluni said.

Congress leaders, on the other hand, alleged that it was an attempt by Bharatiya Janata Party to humiliate Rahul Gandhi at a public event.
