Vice President Polls: BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu files nomination

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party leader Venkaiah Naidu filed his nomination papers for the Vice Presidential Polls on Tuesday. He met veteran BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi at their residences before filing the nomination.

On Monday evening, Venkaiah Naidu's name was announced as NDA's vice President candidate for the upcoming election by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah.

Following the announcement he resigned from the post of Union minister on Monday.

Naidu is contesting against Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, the noinee of 18 opposition parties.

Polling for Vice President post has been scheduled for August 5.
