ACB arrests DJB Magistrate's staffer in bribery case

New Delhi : The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday arrested a Reader of a Special Metropolitan Magistrate of the Delhi Jal Board on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for settling a challan case in south Delhi, an officer said.

"Accused Rajender Kumar Gautam, 52, of Lajpat Nagar was arrested by an ACB team for taking Rs 5,000 from the complainant who had came to deposit the challan in Special Metropolitan Magistrate's court at Lajpat Nagar," Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACB) Amit Roy told IANS.

"A resident of Najafgarh, the complainant told the ACB that Gautam was demanding a bribe for reducing the challan amount," Roy said.

"Gautam initially demanded more money for the challan and then demanded a bribe to reduce it. The challan receipt was issued for Rs 1,000," the officer added.
