Dovizioso aims to push Marquez title win to next race

Motegi (Japan) : Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso, second in the 2018 World MotoGP standings, on Thursday said ahead of the Japanese MotoGP that he would try and push championship leader Marc Marquez's title win to the next race.

"Looks like tomorrow will be wet, (...) we'll try to win the race and make the celebration of Marc (go) to the next round," Dovizioso said in a press conference, reports Efe.

He recalled last year's Japanese MotoGP, where he won the race ahead of Marquez in wet conditions, and said he hoped to repeat the performance.

The Ducati rider said Motegi could be a good circuit for his team and it would be great to delay Marquez's title, adding that they had to wait and see how the tyres performed.

He also mentioned the last race in Thailand, which he lost to the Spaniard on the last lap, and said it is easy to say something could have been done better after the race has ended.

"I think the strategy was good in the race until the last lap," he said.
