Exposure trip to Germany for four budding Bengal footballers

Kolkata : In a unique initiative by the West Bengal Police, four budding footballers from the state will be sent on an exposure trip to Germany where they will train with the renowned Eintracht Frankfurt club.

The students from Kolkata, Darjeeling and Jhargram will leave for Germany on November 6, where they would undergo a four-day training session with the first team players of the club and also watch a Bundeshliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Shalke 04, a statement issued by the organisers said.

"The Kolkata Police chose Loknath Mondal and Sekh Rintu from the city during the department organised Friendship Cup Football Tournament this year, while Manish Subba, a boy from north Bengal's Darjeeling and Deb Kumar Khirali, a teenager from Jhargram were selected by the respective district police," the statement said.

The four players are scheduled to come back to the city on November 13.

Formal invitation letters from the German football club Eintracht of Frankfurt City in favour of players were handed over to the city police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar by Michel Feiner, Consul General of Germany in Kolkata on Wednesday.
