Himachal reduces VAT on petrol, diesel

Shimla : With the Central government on Thursday announcing a cut of Rs 2.50 on a litre of petrol and diesel, the BJP-run Himachal Pradesh government also announced to slash VAT on the fuels by Rs 2.5 per litre, effectively making both cheaper by Rs 5 in the state.

"The government has decided to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50. This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here," an official statement said.

In order to facilitate the general public, the state government has decided to reduce the VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre, the Chief Minister said in the statement.
