Hyderabad High Court sets aside TDP MLA's election

Hyderabad : The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday set aside the election of TDP MLA K. Eeranna to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Madakasira constituency.

The court directed that M. Thippe Swamy of YSR Congress Party, who had finished runner-up in 2014 election, be treated as the legislator. Eeranna of ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was elected to Assembly from Madakasira (reserved for scheduled castes) in 2014. Thippe Swamy had challenged Eeranna's election on the ground that Eeranna violated People's Representation Act by not providing all details in his election affidavit. The YSRCP leader argued that Eeranna did not give details of the cases pending against him in Karnataka and also about his wife's job. After hearing both sides, the high court set aside Eeranna's election.
