SC notice to Bengal, CBI on killing of BJP workers

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the West Bengal government and the CBI on a plea for a central agency probe into the alleged killing of three BJP workers in the state.

A bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan sought their responses within four weeks.

The court is hearing a plea filed by BJP leader and advocate Gaurav Bhatia for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killings reported during the elections to local bodies.

Bhatia said that the family members of deceased Shaktipad Sarkar, Trilochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar, were being threatened. He demanded monetary compensation and security to them.
