Sid Owens 'gobsmacked' over Westbrook's cancer diagnosis

Los Angeles : Actress Danniella Westbrook's "EastEnders" former co-star Sid Owens has prayed for the actress' good health after she revealed she has been diagnosed with womb cancer.

In an interview with Daily Mirror, Owens said he is "gobsmacked" after hearing the news.

He said: "I'm gobsmacked. Wish her well. She's a strong girl and had to battle worse. My prayers are out for her and her family."

Owens worked closely with Westbrook on the BBC1 show.

They originally starred in the soap from 1990 to 1993, and their characters Ricky Butcher and Sam Mitchell even eloped in the series in 1991.

Earlier this month, the 44-year-old actress broke her cancer news to fans. Westbrook will undergo a full hysterectomy in three weeks' time.
