Students demand 'Atal Chair' at AMU

Aligarh : Former students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have demanded the institution of an Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair for research on the former Prime Minister's literary work.

In a letter to the Vice Chancellor, the former students said "Atal Chair" would add to the prestige of the AMU, which already has Ambedkar and Nehru Chairs.

A former student, Jasim Mohammed, offered Rs 2 lakh for the project.

"There is need for academic work on Vajpayee's poetry, his speeches and his life, which is inspirational," Mohammed told IANS.
