Surrendered Maoist killed in Chhattisgarh

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) : A Maoist, who surrendered four days ago, was stabbed to death by a member of his former group here early on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Cholnar village at 4.30 a.m. The deceased was identified as Podia Wadde, 55, who was a part of the recruitment wing of the insurgent group. He was also the mastermind of the Cholnar blast in April, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallav said.

Wadde was with the red group for 25 years and was involved in the murder of his own cousin -- village head -- in 2017, Pallav added. The police had directed him to stay elsewhere in Kirundul following his surrender, but Wadde did not agree.
