Three bodies recovered from landslide debris in J&K (Lead)

Jammu : The bodies of all three persons including a truck driver that were swept away by a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on November 5 were recovered on Wednesday, officials said.

A truck carrying three persons was swept away by a landslide in Battery Chashma area of Jammu-Srinagar highway on November 5.

Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were called in by the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir to assist the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) when searches in the area failed to locate the bodies.

On Wednesday, the body of the driver, Manjeet Singh, was first recovered after which two more bodies were recovered from the debris.

Singh was behind the wheels of the ill-fated truck that was swept away by a landslide.

Relatives of the truck driver from neighbouring Punjab had been camping in Ramban town seeking the mortal remains of the truck driver and the other two persons.
