Yamuna flowing 1cm below danger mark

New Delhi : The water level in the Yamuna river, which was flowing over the danger mark of 204.83 metres since Saturday, reached 204.82 metres on Wednesday afternoon in Delhi -- 1 cm below the red sign.

"The water level is now flowing a centimetre below the mark and is showing a falling trend," a Flood Control Department official told IANS. "But fresh rainfall may impact this flow. We are keeping a close watch."

The evacuation of people living in the river bed, which started on Saturday, resulted in shifting of over 10,000 people to higher areas.

However, the people will continue to live in tents on higher area for some more days as the river is still flowing above 204 metres.
