Dussehra 2022: Ravana effigies light up sky as India celebrates victory of good over evil

New Delhi : On Wednesday evening, the effigies of Ravana were burnt across the nation to mark the victory of good over evil. This year, the Dussehra festivities were seen in full attendance after two years of muted celebrations due to coronavirus pandemic.

At some places, the news came in not a good shape as six men were reported drowned while immersing an idol of Goddess Durga in Rajasthan. But, at all the other places, the news remained good as people celebrated Dussehra by burning sever feet long Ravana effigies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the day in Kullu this year. In a tweet, he wished courage, restraint and positive energy to everyone.

Meanwhile, other politicians also celebrated the day in their respective states. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Delhi LG VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took part in the festivities in Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday attended Dussehra festivities at the historical Red Fort ground and wished for India to become the “best and strongest nation in the world”.

Every year, Dussehra is celebrated ahead of Diwali to mark the victory of good over evil. As lord Shri Ram took down Ravana to save his wife Sita.
