ISRO all set for Chandrayaan 2 lift off, countdown underway

New Delhi : With all glitches fixed, ISRO is all set for the lift off of Chandrayaan 2 from Sriharikota launch pad on Monday. The 20-hour countdown will end at 2:43PM when the rover will embark on its journey to explore new things on the moon.

"Corrective measures have been taken ... it took us more than a day to do that after the glitch was discovered leading to the cancellation. I can assure you that there will be no such technical snag this time," K Sivan said.

The launch of Chandrayaan 2 was cancelled at the last moment after the scientists noticed a technical snag. The GSLV Mark III carrying the orbiter, lander, and rover was scheduled to take off at 02:51 am on July 15.

“A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system at 1 hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, #Chandrayaan2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later,” a statement from the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) had said.

Chandrayaan-2 is India's second Moon mission and aims to land a rover on the lunar surface.
