Hong Kong Open final: PV Sindhu settles for silver medal

Hong Kong : Indian premier shuttler P.V. Sindhu lost to top seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in a repeat of 2016 edition final of the Hong Kong Open Superseries here on Sunday.

World No.1 Tai played a compact and complete game to earn a 21-18, 21-18 triumph to pocket her third Hong Kong Open title.

The game turned out to be a repeat telecast of 2016 edition's final which saw Sindhu losing to Chinese Taipei's top-ranked shuttler Tai 15-21, 17-21.

Sindhu on Saturday had defeated former world champion Ratchanok Intanon to reach the final of Hong Kong Open Superseries here on Saturday.

She had registered a 21-17, 21-17 win in 43 minutes over the Thai sixth seed at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
