Pakistan Umpire Withdrawn; Akram, Akhtar voluntarily withdraw

  • Mumbai : After Shiv Sena’s protest, Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar has been withdrawn from officiating in the remaining two matches of the on-going India-South Africa one-day series.

  • Following this, former Pakistani cricketers Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar have also decided to boycott the fifth ODI

  • On Monday morning Shiv Sena activists stormed BCCI office in Mumbai and threatened to prevent Mr Dar from umpiring in the fifth ODI

  • ICC spokesperson said umpire Aleem would also be not able to perform his duties under tense situation so he has been withdrawn for the fifth ODI

  • The meeting of two cricket board chiefs from Pakistan and India was also rescheduled for Monday in New Delhi post protest.

  • The Indian and Pakistani cricket boards had signed a pact for six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023.
