Virat Kohli argues with on-field umpire as India lose review

London : Virat Kohli lost his cool with umpires Marais Erasmus and Ruchira Palliyaguruge during India's match against Bangladesh in Birmingham on Tuesday. The Indian skipper was furious as India lost a review when the third umpire did not use ball-tracker for an LBW call.

In the second ball of 11th over Shami hits Soumya Sarkar on the pads and there was a huge appeal for a leg before wicket. Marais Erasmus, one of the on-field umpires ruled it not out and Virat Kohli took a review with only 5 seconds remaining. On referral, it did look like the ball was missing leg-stump.

Third umpire Aleem Dar decided there was an inside edge and did not go past Ultraedge to check ball-tracking. Therefore, Erasmus's decision was not overturned and India lost the only review.

Virat Kohli immediately went into a heated argument with on-field umpires.

This is the second time Virat Kohli has courted controversy on the field; in a match against Afghanistan, he was fined 25% of the match fees for excessive appealing.

Incidentally, in the game against Afghanistan, the on-field umpire who Kohli had approached with an over-the-top appealing was Aleem Dar.

That offence was Virat Kohli's second since the introduction of the revised Code in September 2016. The India captain now has 2 demerit points - one was added during a Test match against South Africa in January 2018.
