With record shipment of iPhone in India, Apple captures 7% of market share

New Delhi : Apple makes one of the most sought off smartphones in the mobile world, everyone wants to experience the technology, including Indians. According to a report, the company has achieved record shipment from the tricolor nation, capturing about 7 per cent of the market share.

The report mentions that Indian smartphone vendors received huge sales due to the festive season, leading to propelling Q4 shipments to an impressive 3.89 crore units.

The premium smartphone was seen having major demands due to various factors like easy financing options, incentive schemes for retailers, and a rise in disposable income.

Apple strategically used the festive Diwali season to push the sales of its latest flagship device iPhone 15 series, contributing over 50 per cent to its Q4 shipments, the report said. Additionally, discounts offered on previous generations like iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 also gave a boost to the sales figures of the company.

According to the report, Samsung maintained its leading position in Q4 2023 with a 20 per cent market share and shipments totalling 76 lakh units. Xiaomi continued its robust performance, claiming the second spot by shipping 72 lakh units, followed by Vivo in third place with shipments of 70 lakh units. Realme and OPPO (excluding OnePlus) rounded out the top five, shipping 45 lakh and 37 lakh units, respectively.

The smartphone market in India showed stability as 14.86 crore shipments were done in the year of 2023.
