Armed man takes hostages in Paris, arrested

New Delhi : The French policemen detained a man who allegedly took hostages in Central Paris. The accused held some people captives at an advertising agency in the Rue des Petites-Écuries in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital.

“The individual has been arrested and the hostages are out of danger,” Gerard Collomb wrote on Twitter, praising police, especially the elite BRI unit, for their “professionalism and responsiveness.”

Post detainment, the accused demanded security forces to get him in touch with the Iranian Embassy. Apparently, he wanted to deliver some message to the French government.

The motive behind his act is still being investigated and cops have also maintained silence over the age, an appearance of the accused.

An interior ministry official said that the accused has “really vague and incoherent” demands. “The negotiator had difficulty understanding,” he added. There was no motive related to terrorism.
