British Court rejects Julian Assange's bid to cancel arrest warrant

New Delhi : A British Court has rejected Wikileaks founder Julian Assange's bid to cancel his UK arrest warrant, according to The Independent.

46-year-old Julian Assange was given Ecuadorian citizenship on January 11 after her spent over five years in their embassy in London.

The country's foreign minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa confirmed that Assange was "naturalised" as an Ecuadorian on December 12 at his request.

He was also provided with political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy about five-and-a-half years ago when Swedish prosecutors were investigating sex crime allegations against him.

Fearing arrest Assange had refused to leave the embassy despite investigation in the case was dropped against him.
