Pakistan court charges Hafiz Saeed of terror financing

New Delhi : A Pakistani court on Wednesday indicted Islamist militant Hafiz Saeed, also known as the mastermind of the deadly Mumbai blasts, on terror financing charges, said a media report.

The charges were read in presence of Hafiz Saeed in the court, Abdur Rauf told Reuters.

Hafiz Saeed is the founder of militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a militant group blamed by the United States and India for the four-day Mumbai siege. Several foreigners were also killed in the attack.

Pakistan’s counter terrorism police arrested Saeed in July. The indictment came ahead of a world financial watchdog meeting early next year to decide whether to blacklist Pakistan on failure to curb terror financing.
