New Delhi : Sri Lanka Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena on Monday corrected his words from an interview where he had said that the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has left the nation and will be moving to Dubai. In a recent statement, he claimed that Gotabaya is still in the nation.

He explained that his words were in context to time and he did not mean to say that the President has left the nation.

Meanwhile, protestors in Sri Lanka stormed inside the official residence of Mr President, demanding his resignation for mishandling the economic situation of the nation. The social media is flooded with visuals of protestors inside the residence, enjoying in swimming pool, using the kitchen and relaxing in bedrooms.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be resigning from the post on July 13, 2022.

Sri Lanka is dealing with the world's worst economic situation in seven decades, which has left many people struggling to buy essential commodities and food items.
