Delhi : India is seeing an electric scooter boom, with company like Ola, TVS, and Ather offering a variety of electric two-wheelers. While the industry is still dominated by the classic Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter, electric scooters are catching up at an astounding rate. According to the most recent data from June 2023, sales of electric scooters increased impressively by 200% from the prior year.

Electric scooter craze hits Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter

A total of 3,40,099 scooters were sold in June 2023, with the Honda Activa taking the top spot. Even the best-selling Activa, however, saw a drop in sales, with a 29.01 percent drop from June 2022. In contrast, TVS Jupiter's growth was modest, with sales rising by just 2.23 percent during the same time period.

Electric Scooters Lead the Way with Triple Sales Figures

With at least three electric two-wheeler brands recording an astounding growth of nearly 200 percent, it is apparent that electric scooters are growing in popularity. The group is being led by Ola, which last month had a remarkable increase in sales of 198.05%, selling a total of 17,579 devices. TVS iQube also enjoyed considerable success, selling 14,462 units, a phenomenal rise of 200.98%. Not to be outdone, Ather Energy increased sales of their electric scooters by an amazing 219.81 percent, to 10,202 units.

Race Continues: Electric Scooters vs. Petrol Scooters

It is obvious that electric scooters are not only gaining footing but also giving their petrol-powered rivals a stiff fight as the market for them continues to develop quickly. The increase in sales is a blatant sign of India's rising preference for economical and environmentally beneficial electric mobility alternatives.
