Delhi : The new 'Himalayan 450' from Royal Enfield will be released later this month. The new "Sherpa 450" engine, the specifications of which have just been made public, will power the motorcycle. The 451.65cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine powering the new Himalayan is somewhat bigger than the 411cc engine that powered the previous model. Through the use of a slip-and-assist clutch, it is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox to produce 40 BHP at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

The Himalayan is a next-generation ADV that has an adjustable monoshock at the back and an open-cartridge upside-down fork up front. It is built on a redesigned twin-spar frame. With the lower seat, the regular seat height of 825-845 mm may be decreased to 805-825 mm. The bicycle is equipped with tubed tires from Ceat and rides on wire-spoke wheels with front and rear rims of 21 and 17 inches, respectively. With the option to turn off dual-channel ABS, the brake system consists of a single, 320 mm front disc and a single, 270 mm rear disc.

There will be three versions of the Himalayan 450 available: Base, Pass, and Summit. It will have three riding modes—Eco, Performance with rear ABS, and Performance without rear ABS—and a color TFT instrument panel with Bluetooth connection.

Five colors will be offered for the Himalayan: Hanle Black, Kamet White, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, and Kaza Brown.
