New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki is often criticized for its poor build quality and its low scores on Global NCAP. But, it looks like the company is now working on it and will soon overcome the criticism.

Baleno, Maruti Suzuki's hot-selling hatchback, will be getting a facelift in 2022. To increase the safety markings of the car, the company has installed a strengthened platform and up to 6 airbags. Higher models could also come with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that can steer the car in an emergency by using individual wheel braking.

Maruti is desperately looking to score 5-star by new Baleno; while the current model had scored zero safety ratings.

Baleno is pitched against Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the Tata Altroz. Tata Altroz has the best 5-star safety ratings in the Indian hatchbacks. The 2022 Maruti Baleno Facelift will be powered by a 1.2-liter K-series engine. However, the top-end Alpha trim will sport a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine option (seen on Maruti Vitara Brezza) that produces 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque.

It will be interesting to see how the prices will be increased for the new Baleno.
