Delhi : In order to await cabinet approval, the Delhi government has extended the policy on electric cars (EVs) until March 2024. Two-wheelers that qualify for a subsidy of Rs 5,000 for every kWh of battery capacity. Three-wheelers, regardless of price or battery capacity, are eligible for a Rs 30,000 incentive. Four-wheelers up to the first 1,000 EVs are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kWh of battery capacity. The Delhi EV policy 2.0, which includes more parking incentives and incentives for electric vehicles, is almost complete.

The transport department's senior officials said that the Delhi government has decided to prolong its policy for electric cars (EVs) by an additional three months. The same was verified by Kailash Gahlot, the minister of transport. They stated that the policy will be prolonged through the end of March 2024 and that cabinet approval will be granted shortly.

The EV policy states that: two-wheelers can receive a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per kWh of battery capacity; three-wheelers can receive a subsidy of Rs 30,000 regardless of the total cost or battery capacity; and four-wheelers can receive a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kWh of battery capacity, but this offer is only valid for the first 1,000 EVs to register under the scheme.

Since a new policy hasn't been prepared, the EV policy, which was set to expire on August 8, 2023, has been repeatedly extended.

The transport department had already declared that the strategy was unworkable following the departure of fellows, consultants, and advisers from the department. Gahlot had stated that these individuals possessed technological know-how and were assisting in the development of many transportation department policies, such as EV 2.0 and cab and bus aggregators.
