Ashok Leyland's ieV series: India's first E-vehicle for E-commerce

Delhi : On Thursday Ashok Leyland Ltd. a commercial vehicle manufacturer celebrated its 75th anniversary by showcasing electric light commercial vehicles from its group subsidiary SWITCH Mobility. 

At this ceremony Nitin Gadkari the union minister for roads and highways, unveiled the IeV line of electric light commercial vehicles.

According to Ashok Leyland, India's first electric vehicle is the IeV Series a commercial vehicle that focuses on e-commerce, small enterprises, and MSMEs falls under this category.

Also on exhibit was the 9-meter Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Bus that Ashok Leyland built for the significant NTPC Ltd. thermal power firm.

This is India's first fuel cell bus to make a profit while travelling on public roads.

In addition, the company showcased a vehicle with a hydrogen internal combustion engine that it had previously shown in collaboration with Reliance Industries.

Ashok Leyland's 75-year journey is a narrative of transformation and innovation. "As we commemorate this milestone, we look forward to the future with enthusiasm and determination and reiterate our commitment to further influence the future of the commercial vehicle market," said Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman of Ashok Leyland and SWITCH Mobility.
