BMW India launches the 5 series 520d M sport, 530d axed

Delhi : The 530d variation of the 5 Series in India has been withdrawn, and the M Sport trim is now available with the 520d instead of the prior Luxury Line. This implies that the only two M Sport models for the BMW 5 Series are the 530i and 520d.

A 3.0 litre, six-cylinder diesel engine with 265 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque propelled the BMW 530d. With the demise, the 520d's 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which generates 190 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, is the only diesel option available for the 5 Series. In India, the 5 Series is now exclusively offered with four-cylinder engines, with the 2.0-liter four-pot used in the 530i M Sport producing 252bhp and 250Nm of torque.

Instead of the former Luxury Line trim, the M Sport trim is now available for the BMW 5 Series 520d. With revised front and rear bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome exhaust tips, blue brake callipers, and M-badging, the M Sport offers the car a sportier appearance. BMW Laserlight, HUD, Harman Kardon audio, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless smartphone charging have been added to the list of features.

The updates to the 5 Series vehicles provide a taste of the new-gen, which is scheduled to debut in 2019. In order to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which has a longer wheelbase, the BMW 5 Series for India in 2024 will only be available in the long-wheelbase form.

In the Indian market, the BMW 5 Series faces off against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Lexus ES, Volvo S90, and the Jaguar XF. The two other saloons with a diesel engine option, the Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, compete with the 520d M Sport.

The price of the BMW 520d M Sport is Rs. 68.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the price of the BMW 530i M Sport with gasoline is Rs. 65.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
