Delhi : On March 21, Hyundai will officially introduce the new Verna sedan, following the release of a few teaser photos for us to consider. Nonetheless, reservations for the vehicle have already started.

New style

The brand-new Hyundai Verna has been sighted testing on the streets and is ready to make its debut on a worldwide scale. We now have information after adding the teaser images. We can tell that the new Verna will have a fresh styling. Many of the novel features were significantly influenced by some of the more recent Hyundai vehicles that are now on the market.

Consider the split headlamp configuration, which features a full-width DRL bar grinning across the face. The grille, which again spans the width of the nose, has inserts that are comparable to those on the Tucson. The automobile has a sportier appearance from the side because of its notchback design and newly created alloy wheels.

A lot of the company's international models, including those on the doors and fenders, include creases and slashes. Additionally, a full-width lightbar and crystal-like features inside the tail lamps are visible at the back.

Options for engines

The installation of a new engine will be the major alteration to the Verna. This 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine has a maximum output of 160 horsepower and a maximum torque of more than 250 Nm. It should be the most potent sedan in its class as a result. You have a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox to transfer this power to the road.

The 1.5-liter gasoline engine with naturally aspirated combustion, which also powers the current Verna, is the other available powerplant. The latest generation Verna has an output of 115 PS and 144 Nm. The 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic transmission are available here as options for the gearbox. Hyundai isn't anticipated to offer a diesel engine option this time, though. For comparison, none of the Verna's direct competitors provide a diesel option.

Features to anticipate

Hyundai can be counted on to provide a greater selection of electrical enhancements with the new generation Verna. A bigger touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster might be available. Additionally, as part of its safety package, we could anticipate ADAS assistance, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and emergency autonomous braking.

The Verna is anticipated to come in four trim variants: EX, S, SX, and SX. The complete feature list has not yet been revealed (O). The pricier variants of these will likely come with ADAS and the turbo-petrol engine option, while the lower ones will only have a naturally aspirated engine.

Costs anticipated

Obviously, the improved electronics and the new engine will make the new Verna more expensive than the previous one. Having stated that, we anticipate a Rs 10.5 lakh beginning price. For comparison, the ex-showroom price of the current-generation Verna is Rs. 9.64 lakh. Bookings for the Verna have already started, as previously announced, for a nominal fee of Rs 25,000.

The Hyundai Verna competes with other mid-size sedans of a similar size, including the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the impending Honda City facelift.
