Delhi : A battery problem has caused US carmaker Ford to halt both manufacturing and shipments of its electrified F-150 Lightning pickup.

According to Electrek, the firm issued a statewide "stop shipment" order to hold F-150 Lightnings until a potential battery problem is looked into.

"A car indicated a potential battery issue as part of our pre-delivery quality tests," the business stated in a statement. "We are holding vehicles while we investigate."

The battery is connected to the possible quality issue. Root cause analysis is being done. As part of our pre-delivery quality inspections, this potential problem was found. We aren't aware of any instances of this problem occurring in the field. No stop sale exists, Ford continued.

According to the report, SK On, a Korean company that was spun out from SK Innovation, provides the battery for the F-150 Lightning. When the electric vehicle will start to be produced and shipped again has not been specified by Ford.

The manufacturer also disclosed on Tuesday that it will restructure its operations to achieve a leaner, more competitive cost structure by cutting 3,800 positions over the next three years in Europe.

Ford intends to reduce the number of engineering jobs in Europe by 2,800 by 2025. The switch to totally electric powertrains and a decrease in vehicle complexity are what are driving these changes.

Ford's administrative, marketing, sales, and distribution divisions in Europe will also adopt a leaner cost structure, which entails the removal of almost 1,000 roles.

Ford announced that it would continue to employ 3,400 engineers in Europe in an organization dedicated to linked service development and vehicle design.
