Delhi : Since its introduction in the Indian market in August 2021, the XUV700 has been among Mahindra's best-sellers. Due to its popularity, the XUV700 commands infamously lengthy wait times. We recently reported that the waiting period for the SUV has decreased by up to four months, as Mahindra was progressively increasing production for the XUV700. The base trim waiting times are now only two months, which is a significant reduction.

Waiting duration for Mahindra XUV700

The base-spec MX and AX3 variations with the least waiting period—two months—are the petrol and diesel models in the XUV700 lineup. The waiting period for the AX5 petrol and diesel versions is now three months, as opposed to six months.

The waiting period for the AX7L was up to six months, while it is currently only five months for the AX7 trim. These top-spec trims had previously required eight and nine months of waiting, respectively.

However, the longest waiting times—up to 10 months—are associated with the extra packages for the MX, AX3, and AX5 trims.

Mahindra XUV700's engine and seating arrangements

Mahindra provides the XUV700 with many engine options and in both 5- and 7-seater variants. The petrol XUV700 is powered by a 2-liter turbocharged mStallion engine that generates 200 horsepower and a powerful 380 Nm of torque. Regarding diesel, the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine powering the XUV700 is available in two distinct tunes: 180 horsepower with an amazing 420 Nm of torque and 155 horsepower with 360 Nm of torque. The diesel automatic version produces torque of 450 Nm.

A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission are the two available options to match the engines. The only transmission option offered by the base-spec MX trim is a 6-speed manual, while all other models come with an automatic or manual gearbox. For the AX7 and AX7L grades, Mahindra also provides an all-wheel-drive option for the XUV700.

Mahindra XUV700 cost and competitors

The base-spec MX petrol model of the XUV700 series starts at Rs 14.03 lakh (ex-showroom), while the MX diesel variant costs Rs 14.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV700 will go up against the Hyundai Alcazar, the freshly modified Tata Safari, and the MG Hector Plus as its competitors.
