New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki Ignis, which was first shown in Tokyo Motor show in 2015 then in Delhi Auto Expo 2016, is likely to be launched in first quarter of 2017.

The car was earlier expected to launch in 2016 festive season, but due to heavy demand of Baleno and Vitara Brezza, its launch was delayed till 2017.

Now, as per latest reports the company is planning to launch Ignis in time frame of January to March 2017.

The car has been manufactured on the same platform as of Baleno. The Suzuki Ignis is 3,700mm long, 1,660mm wide, 1,595mm tall, and gets a wheelbase of 2,438mm and ground clearance of 180mm.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be equipped with features like dual tone dashboard, body-colour highlights, heated front seats, automatic climate control, SmartPlay infotainment system, etc. On safety fronts it is likely to include dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, and lane departure warning.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be powered with 73.9bhp 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine and the 84bhp 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor.

The car will be available in both five-speed manual and AMT variant. It is expected that the company's SHVS mild hybrid technology will also be used in the car.

While already on sale in Japan, the Suzuki Ignis is also likely to be launched in Europe by 2017.
