New Delhi : Indeed a great time for automobile industry in India, when, in 2005, Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched with fresh appeal in the Maruti range of cars. It changed the fate of several Indian automakers. Earlier this year, the entire range of Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 20 million sales unit milestone too. The Alto car unit has crossed the 3.5 million mark becoming the highest ever selling car in the country.

Coming to Maruti Suzuki Swift, the car began to create history by selling half a million units in September 2010. The million units sale milestone was achieved in September 2013 followed by the 1.5 million sales milestone in March 2016.

Since its launch in 2005, Swift has always been a top seller for Maruti Suzuki alongside the Alto and the Dzire. The new Swift was launched at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo and attracted people with its robust performance and packed interiors.

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been engineered with both petrol and diesel engine and both engines are mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol engine is the tried and tested 1.2-litre K12 engine making 82 bhp of peak power while the diesel engine is the 1.3-litre DDIS motor making 74 bhp of peak power. Both petrol and diesel engines are very fuel efficient and offer 22 kmpl and 28.4 kmpl respectively.
