Delhi : The newest electric hatchback, the MG4, was introduced by British automaker MG Motor on Wednesday at the Auto Expo 2023. The MG4 electric vehicle (EV), which made its debut in July 2022, is a born-electric vehicle built on the modular scalable platform of Chinese automaker SAIC Motor.

The company has also disclosed facelifts for Hector and Hector Plus, which start at Rs 14.72 lakh and Rs 20.14 lakh, correspondingly.

Features and design of the MG4

The MG4 is currently offered in more than 20 European regions and comes in six different colour options: Dynamic Red, Holborn Blue, Black Pearl, Volcano Orange, Arctic White, and Camden Grey. The dimensions of MG Motor's MG4 are the same as those of its current sports utility vehicle (SUV), the ZS EV.

The MG4 EV has automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, a wireless charger, and two floating screens for the infotainment system and instrument panel. The new vehicle also features modern driver-assistance technologies and luxurious upholstery with advanced driver-aid systems (ADAS).

The ZS EV SUV, which is currently offered here, and the MG4 are almost the same size in terms of dimensions. It competes with vehicles like the Volkswagen ID.3 in foreign markets. The MG4 is a stylish hatchback that incorporates some crossover-inspired design elements. It has sharp edges, sheer surfaces, and a few other characteristics that appear to have been influenced by the Cyberster roadster idea.

MG4 powertrains

Both a 51kWh and a bigger 64kWh battery pack are available for the MG4 EV; the former produces 201hp, while the latter produces 203hp. Both variations are available with a single motor and rear-wheel drive.

Around the world, MG4 EV provides a variety of charging choices, including a 12V portable charger and AC and DC charging. Two battery pack configurations are available for the electric hatchback: a 51 kWh pack that generates 170 horsepower and a 64 kWh pack that generates 203 horsepower. The EV can have a maximum driving range of up to 450 km, according to the manufacturer.

The MG4 with the smaller battery pack, according to MG, can be charged from zero to eighty percent in 39 minutes, whilst the larger battery pack requires just 35 minutes. A 150kW DC charger is compatible with the MG4 EV.
