New Delhi : Car lovers, be ready to welcome the new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, to be launched in the first week of August. The booking for the car will start by the end of July, this year. It is likely to beat the competitive market of Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

In March 2018, the Times of India reported that India’s largest carmaker’s sedan the Ciaz would be rolled out in August. Maruti Suzuki had previously planned to replace the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine in the Ciaz with a domestic Suzuki developed, more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine. But the company finally decided to join hands with the tested Fiat power train.

The petrol option though is getting a bang from the existing 1.4-litre petrol to a hybrid 1.5-litre engine. This step comes in the setting of a general complaint chiefly specific to the Ciaz petrol that the powertrain is underwhelming in an otherwise nice car.

Top competitors of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz’s include the Hyundai Verna (1.6-litre petrol) and the Honda City (1.5-litre petrol) which have much more powerful engines.

Diesel variants of the competitors too have been more powerful and it is not surprising that the company planned against the improvement of oil-burner after initial plans of enhancing the engine.

While there will be some changes to the front and rear parts of the new sedan, the interior will get carried over from the previous generation, the sources said.

The Ciaz launched in 2014 had no major changes except some minor twists. But with the launch of updated version of Hyundai and Honda, everybody was waiting for some changes in Maruti Suzuki. The 2018 version of the Ciaz is widely expected to attracted visitors at the Auto Expo in February.

However, the price of new Ciaz is yet undecided as the company is yet to finalise the final rate, sources said. But it is expected to be higher than the current range of the brand which is available in the Rs 8-12 lakh.
