New Maruti 800cc car to arrive by next year: All you need to know

New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is the entry-level hatchback that happens to be the highest selling cars in the entire Indian market. Amid rising competition, the demand is to upgrade the vehicle with modern technology and the company is working towards it. To put things in perspective, the current model of Alto 800 was launched way back in 2012 and since then the car has been given just one facelift.

According to a news report, Maruti Suzuki is working towards launching the new 800cc car in the Indian market. It is likely to replace the current Alto 800. It is also possible that the company may brand the upcoming car on the iconic 'Maruti 800'. Meanwhile, an official statement comes, we list you things that you should know about the upcoming car.

1: Platform

The upcoming 'Maruti 800' will be made on the Heartect-K platform which is currently being used in S-Presso. The new car is likely to be redesigned more like a crossover instead of old design language of the car.

2: Engine

The upcoming car is likely to get the same 3-cylinder petrol engine of 796 cc, which is powering the current generation of Alto 800. The said engine belts out 48 PS of maximum power along with 69 Nm of peak torque. It has been learned that the car will also be launched with an automatic gearbox.

3: Features

The reason why the car is being upgraded is to upgrade its features. The car is expected to have latest version of Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, power windows, LED DRLs, wheel caps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors etc.

4. Expected Launch

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Alto 800’s successor in the Indian market next year. 

5. Price and competition

The 800 cc car will likely be priced from Rs 3 – 3.5 lakh onwards, and will go on to rival the likes of the Renault Kwid, as well as the Datsun redi-GO in the Indian market.
