Spied: Tata HBX getting tested on roads

Mumbai : In Auto Expo 2020, Tata had featured its upcoming concept compact SUV and now the car has been caught on the city roads, apparently being tested before its official announcement.

Tata Motors claimed that the concept car showcased at the event held in Delhi NCR was 90 per cent close to the production car, and it looks like the company was correct as it can be seen in the actual model. The testing car could be seen sporting the same set of tiny tail lamps that were seen on the concept car.

It has also been notified that the car will be based on the Tata’s Impact 2.0 design language, which will lend it some stylish characteristics like a split headlamp setup.

Though the car is not very wide and big in dimensions, but it has been styled in a way that it looks big.

In terms of interiors, the car is likely to be fitted with 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control and a premium audio system sourced from Harman.

Powering the production-ready HBX will be Tata’s BS6-compliant 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol motor that produces 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will be a 5-speed transmission gear box and it is likely that an automatic version will also be launched later.

Once launched, the car will be in direct competition with Maruti Suzuki Ignis, as well as the Mahindra KUV100. It is expected that the car will be price tagged in bracket 4-5 lakh.
