Mumbai : Tata Motors never misses a moment to poke fun at its competitors whenever it is possible. The company's latest target is Maruti Suzuki's Wagon-R, which managed to get 2 stars in Global NCAP ratings.

Tata Motors, recently, released a poster in which an empty cart with a broken wheel can be seen; along with the picture, the company wrote, "OH SH**T! WAGONE", which smartly indicates the name of its competitor's car. The caption for the original post goes like this: “Safety is ‘two‘ important to be ignored. Be smart before someone overturns your caRt”. Here, the capital ‘R’ is another clue about the car’s identity.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R tested by Global NCAP 2019 managed to get only 2-star safety rating for adult occupants, and a 2-star safety rating for child occupants. Meanwhile, Tiago in the same test was awarded 4-star ratings for adult safety and 3-star ratings for child safety.

Recently, Global NCAP gave zero safety rating to Maruti Suzuki's recently launched S-Presso budget hatchback car. Hyundai's Grand i10 Nios and Kia Seltos were also tested and they received 2 and 3 ratings respectively.

The base model of all three cars, Made in India, were tested at crash test lab in Germany. The cars were subjected to a frontal offset test that is carried out at 64 kmph.  David Ward, President of the Towards Zero Foundation, said, “There is no place for zero rated cars in the Indian market. It remains a great disappointment that an important manufacturer like Maruti Suzuki does not recognise this.”
