Delhi : Toyota has raised the price of the Fortuner SUV, one of its best-selling models, once more. The Toyota Fortuner is now the most expensive SUV in its class after price increases of up to Rs 70,000. This is the second price increase for the Toyota Fortuner in 2023; the first one happened in July 2023 and increased the cost of the SUV by Rs 40,000. The Toyota Fortuner now costs up to Rs 1.1 lakh more than it did the previous year.

Cost exceeds Rs 60 lakh.

When the top-spec Toyota Fortuner GR-S is taken into consideration, the on-road costs in a number of major cities, such as Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, and Pune, now exceed Rs 60 lakh. With these new pricing, the Toyota Fortuner has emerged as the most costly ladder-on-frame SUV in its class, which currently has just two rival vehicles: the Isuzu MU-X and the MG Gloster, both of which have far smaller sales volumes than the Toyota Fortuner.

Two different powertrain options are now available for the Fortuner from Toyota: a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine and a 2.7-liter four-cylinder normally aspirated petrol engine. The diesel engine is more powerful than the petrol engine, with stated values of 204 PS of maximum power and 500 Nm of maximum torque, while the petrol engine only manages 166 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of maximum torque. Six-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearboxes are available for each of these engine types, and four-wheel drive is an optional feature for the diesel versions.

With respect to the latest price hikes, Toyota has increased the 4x2 petrol manual, 4x2 petrol automatic, 4x2 diesel manual, and 4x2 diesel automatic versions by up to Rs 44,000. However, the cost of all 4x4 models, such as the 4x4 diesel-manual, 4x4 diesel-automatic, and 4x4 GR-S, has increased by Rs 70,000.

Following these price increases, the new list costs for the Toyota Fortuner are as follows: Rs 33.43 lakh for the 4x2 petrol manual and Rs 51.44 lakh for the GR-S, which has an automatic gearbox and 4x4 as standard for its diesel engine. As part of its reorganization efforts in India, Ford canceled the Endeavour in 2021. Since then, Toyota has been gradually raising the Fortuner's pricing.
