Delhi : Toyota has introduced the second-generation C-HR, a strikingly designed crossover, with the aim of attracting new customers. One of the significant highlights is the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the C-HR lineup for the first time.

Impressive Specifications of Toyota C-HR

The production model adopts the eye-catching aesthetics of the C-HR Prologue concept showcased last year. It features the same powertrain options as the Prius, including a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid variant along with 2.0-litre and 1.8-litre parallel hybrid options. Toyota claims that the 2.0-litre parallel hybrid version equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) provides enhanced traction and stability on slippery surfaces, thanks to the electric motor generator on the rear axle.

The new front-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid variant incorporates a 2.0-litre petrol engine and introduces geofencing technology. This innovative feature automatically switches the car to EV mode when it detects entry into a low-emission zone, provided there is sufficient battery power.

Upscale Interior and Advanced Technologies

The second-generation C-HR boasts a reinvented interior with an emphasis on premium materials and advanced technologies. Higher trim levels receive luxurious features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Entry-level models are equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen.

Toyota has stated that all performance data is provisional until homologation is complete, and final specifications will be confirmed later. Therefore, precise power and range figures will be disclosed closer to the car's launch.

Toyota's Plans for the Indian Market

Although the C-HR was tested in India in 2018, it did not make its way to the market. Currently, Toyota offers hybrid powertrains in models like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross, and the Camry. There are also rumors of the company introducing a car running solely on flex fuel in the future. Toyota's commitment to innovative and eco-friendly mobility solutions is evident in its diverse range of offerings.
