Delhi : On October 17, 2023, Tata Motors introduced the updated Harrier in India. The well-liked SUV's mechanicals haven't altered despite extensive appearance and interior renovations. With seven different color options and ten versions, the starting price is Rs. 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). With new versions, the Indian automaker's flagship five-seater SUV offers a number of innovations that are first for the market. We'll explain the benefits of purchasing the 2023 Tata Harrier in this post.

Tata Harrier model to purchase

Ten different varieties of the Tata Harrier facelift are available: Smart (O), Pure (O), Adventure, Adventure +, Adventure + Dark, Adventure + A, Fearless, Fearless Dark, Fearless +, and Fearless + Dark. The Adventure range, which offers many of the new amenities in the price range of Rs. 20.19 lakh to Rs. 24.09 lakh (ex-showroom) may be the best trims to choose out of these. Notably, buyers may also get the Adventure trims for Rs. 22.24 lakh (ex-showroom) while purchasing the Dark Edition.

The improved Harrier's specs and engine

The 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine from the previous model remains under the hood of the new Tata Harrier. This engine, which satisfies BS6 2.0 requirements, can provide 350 Nm of torque and 168 horsepower when coupled to a six-speed manual transmission and an automated torque converter.

What specification does the new Tata Harrier have?

The Tata Harrier feels more sporty than before and has acquired some muscle thanks to the makeover. It also sports new colors and features. Sunlit Yellow, Coral Red, Pebble Grey, Lunar White, Oberon Black, Seaweed Green, and Ash Grey are the seven color options available for the SUV. Our particular favorite is the one that is sunlit yellow. This vibrant color gives the 2017 Harrier a frightening attitude with the new parametric split grille, making the already aggressive-looking SUV even more distinctive.

In terms of equipment, the updated Harrier boasts an all-digital instrument cluster with navigation support, a touch-controlled HVAC panel, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 10-speaker JBL music system, and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. It also has a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, air purification, dual-zone temperature control, wireless charging, ambient mood lighting, jewelled terrain response selection, motorized tailgate, and ventilated and powered front-row seats.

The Harrier is outfitted with up to seven airbags, an updated ADAS suite, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, front and rear parking sensors, three-point seatbelts, TPMS, ISOFIX, a 360-degree surround camera, blind-spot monitoring, and hill descent and hold control. It's also important to note that the new Harrier's GNCAP crash test safety ratings are five stars.

Why is the Tata Harrier makeover a bad idea?

Overall, the new Tata Harrier is a fantastic vehicle, but we also noticed a few issues during our first drive assessment. The wireless charging pad and the ports are positioned awkwardly and are challenging to reach, to start with the ergonomic problems. The door pads and center console area have uneven fit and finish, which should have been improved. Additionally, there are notches in the manual gearbox, and the right gear does not slot in as smoothly as we had hoped. In contrast to rivals, Tata Motors' SUV pair is exclusively available with a diesel engine. But a turbo-petrol engine is on the way, and the Harrier will probably profit from it in the upcoming year.
